Hybrid and Laminate Flooring Installation in Melbourne
Hard wearing, great looking floors for busy homes. Hybrid and laminate flooring, supplied and installed across Melbourne.

Hybrid and laminate give you the look of timber with a lot less fuss. They're tough, they're quick to install, and they suit the way most families actually live. We supply and install both across Melbourne, and we'll help you pick the one that suits each room.
Hybrid flooring
Hybrid flooring is a rigid core plank, usually a stone or wood plastic composite, with a printed timber look surface and a protective wear layer. It clicks together and floats over the subfloor. You may also see it called rigid core vinyl plank.
The core doesn't swell with water the way timber or fibreboard can, which is why hybrid is so popular for kitchens, laundries and open plan living areas. The subfloor still needs to be sound and dry.
Hybrid is a great fit for:
- Kitchens, laundries and open plan living areas
- Families with kids and pets
- Rentals and investment properties that need a tough, quick to install floor
- Rooms with a concrete slab underneath
Laminate flooring
Laminate has a fibreboard core with a photographic timber look layer sealed under a tough wear surface. It's hard wearing, holds its look, and is often the more budget friendly way to get a timber look through a whole home.
Most laminate is water resistant rather than waterproof, so it's best kept to dry areas with spills wiped up promptly.
Laminate is a great fit for:
- Bedrooms, living areas, hallways and home offices
- Covering a large area on a sensible budget
- Busy rooms that need a scratch resistant surface

Prices vary from range to range, so the easiest way to compare is to ask us to quote both for your rooms.
How hybrid and laminate are installed
Both are floating floors. The planks click together and sit over an underlay rather than being fixed to the subfloor, which makes for a quicker install than most timber floors.
The subfloor still needs to be flat and dry, because a floating floor will show up any humps and hollows underneath. Whether your existing floor can stay depends on its condition, so ask us and we'll tell you what it needs.

Hybrid and Laminate Questions
The things people ask before they choose a hybrid or laminate floor.
Is hybrid flooring waterproof?
The planks themselves are, which is the big advantage over laminate. Water can still get to the subfloor at the edges of a room, so wiping up spills promptly is still a good habit.
What's the difference between hybrid and laminate?
Hybrid has a rigid core that isn't affected by water, so it suits kitchens, laundries and busy family spaces. Laminate has a fibreboard core, so it's water resistant at best and is better in dry rooms. Both click together and float over the subfloor.
Which is better for a house with kids or pets?
Hybrid usually copes better with accidents because the core doesn't absorb water. Laminate is also hard wearing, but standing liquid can damage it. If spills are likely, lean towards hybrid.
Can hybrid or laminate go over my existing floor or a concrete slab?
Often, yes, as long as the surface underneath is flat, sound and dry. The flatness of the subfloor matters more than what it's made of, because these floors show up humps and hollows. Ask us and we'll tell you what your floor needs.
Can hybrid flooring go in a bathroom?
It depends on the product and the room, so ask us before you buy. Some ranges are made for wet areas and many aren't.
Do you supply the flooring as well as install it?
Yes. We supply and install, so you deal with one business from choosing the floor through to finishing the job.
